How To Blog: 5 Ways To Improve Your Blog

No matter what blogger you ask these things will help you start off your blog!

Don’t Be Scared To Self-Promote.

I personally always feel annoying when I self-promote my blog. It’s an important part of blogging though. You have to get your blog out there. Self-promoting amongst family and friends on social media is the best way to get your name out there. It’ll help spread the fire.

Just don’t overdo it or you’ll come off as spammy. I’ve researched and read that instead of always sharing your own work it’s good to share other’s work too. That way it’s not just yours. Maybe you share something 5 days a week. 3 of those days you share other people’s work and two of them you share yours. Then it comes off a little better then it just being nothing but you.

Don’t Be Afraid To Experiment!

Whether it’s a different topic then you normally cover or a writing style. Don’t be afraid to try out new things and find what works! Testing something here or there isn’t going to hurt. Ask your audience what they think too. You can always check out your stats to see how different posts are doing to see what is working.

Submitting To a Third Party.

One of the best ways to get your name out there is promoting it! Find a publication that is about things you like to write about. For example, I LOVE writing about video games (even though I don’t write about them) so maybe I’d want to submit an article to IGN or Kotaku. Both are video game publications.

You’re going to have to figure out how to get in contact with them to ask if you can submit an article. Then you’re going to want to make your article. Afterward, you have to pitch it to them. Tell them why your article is good for their website. If they post it then it’ll get your name and face out there to a lot more people.

Finding a Niche.

There are MILLIONS of bloggers. What sets you apart from them? What makes you… well you? Maybe you’re a parent that wants to blog about parenting. That’s your niche. If you like building computers and want to blog about it then there you go. Blog about the parts you use to make a guide on how to build one. Make a video to go with it! It’s the little things that you do that separates you from everyone else.

Evaluate Your Site.

How fast does your site load? What important things do you see without scrolling on your site? This could be an important factor in whether people come back or not. It’s just like an interview. You have a few seconds to impress so you want it to be good. You want anything important to be on the top where you don’t have to scroll down.
