What I’ve Gained From My Portfolio Project

I started my portfolio project 21 days ago. At first, I had no idea what I was going to do for my project. I’d seen a lot of other people’s projects and read a lot of ideas. That was when I talked to Marisa Renee Photography.

I told her I would contact people and search for potential clients. We’d set our goal for $100 for the first month. Halfway through our first month, we met that goal. There’s been a lot of bumps along the way. I mean not everything is always perfect.

Some of these bumps is that there are so many photographers. I contact someone and they’ve already got someone to do pictures for them. It can be frustrating at times but we’ve powered on.

That’s okay though because these bumps are what helps you learn. I’ve learned that a lot of it is just sticking yourself out there. Don’t be afraid to self-advertise amongst friends or even colleagues. They can be your first clients and really help out. Even at that, I’ve found myself walking around introducing myself to someone and talk about their photography needs.

Committing to a goal also really helps. I’m always searching for a new goal to crush and this is no different.

We even did the photography for the local school here for their graduation. We’ve gotten somewhere in just a short month and it’s been a blast. I can’t wait to find out where we’ll get next month!

Right now we’re working on pitching a photo directory for our church. It’ll be a fun project to work on.

I’m helping someone live out their dream of being a photographer. Sometimes you just gotta take that leap forward and get stuff done.

What are you doing to fulfill your dreams this month?
